Energy Ottawa's two hydroelectric generating stations on the Ottawa River are among a very small handful of Canadian power generation facilities certified under the Federal Government Environmental Choice EcoLogo program.

Products and services certified by the Environmental Choice Program are proven to have less of an impact on the environment because of the way in which they are manufactured, disposed of, or consumed. Certification is based on compliance with stringent environmental criteria that are established in consultation with industry, environmental groups, and independent experts and are based on research into the life-cycle impacts of a product or service.

Energy Ottawa is proud of its certification under this prestigious program and is continuing to explore and develop other sources of environmentally responsible power generation.
